Lunagirl - Retro Gals

Those were the days when women knew exactly where their place was ..... in the kitchen, behind the oven, in front of the fridge, at the washing machine ... good old times (LOL) .....
I created these three mini cards (10 x 10 cm) for the current Lunagirl challenge: Retro Gals. I used images from the  Retro Housewives collage sheet which I layered on old calendar images. I found the sayings on the web and I thought they fit perfectly.
It was great fun making these little cards, hope you have as much fun joining us for the challenge. Have a great weekend, Petra.

Birthday Box for a special little present

I created this little birthday box for today's new challenge over at Crafting by Designs:  Anything Goes with a Lunagirl Birthday Twist and I feel very honoured to be a guest designer for this challenge.
The box is covered with October Afternoon papers,
the edges embellished with Rose organza ribbon.

The top of the box is decorated with an adorable image from the Birthday Cards with Children collage sheet from Lunagirl MoonBeams,
some delicate lace, little half-pearls and a stamped sentiment (Elzybells).

Please do pop over to Crafting by Desings, the inspiration from the artists is fabulous. Hope to can join  the challenge, Petra.

Cheerful Monday #37 - Moon Angel

I so adore this angel image from the Graphics Fairy, it is so darling with its wings leaning against the Moon
For the background I tea-dyed a manila tag and stamped it with a musical note stamp from Impression Obsession and distress ink Tea Dye. I added a doily, some gold ribbon and little blings. And added some sparkle to the wings with Gold Stickles.

This project is for Vicki's second challenge week: Angel Wings. Hope you can join us,  Petra.

Jewellery - The First Ring

After recognising that opening and closing jump rings for jewellery making are not my strong points (lol) I decided to sign up for a jewellery class or more precise a silversmithing workshop. It has been quite an eye opener. My respect and admiration for silversmiths and jewellery makers has increased manifold. It is not only the techniques which need to be learned (soldering, annealing, cutting, understanding the different properties of metals, ....) but you need to have a vision of what you want to make and plan it carefully otherwise you will loose the precious metal and it is quite challenging physical work when you start the filing, polishing and everything. In the end it was worthwhile ... I am now the very proud owner of a ring which I designed and created myself (BIG SMILE)
The ring itself is copper. The fine line you see at the back of the ring inside is the joint whereI soldered the ring together.
For the decoration I made a silver dome and soldered it on to the copper ring. As it looked a bit plain I decided to add a little square glas bead. Et voila!

The workshop will finish very soon but I will definitely sign up for thr next term ... there is still so much to learn! Thank you for stopping by, Petra.

Photo Session #9 - English Countryside

Today we went for a lovely Autumn walk through the beautiful English Country side. The Autumn colours are absolutely breathtaking, the sky so clear but with a little bit of an Autumn chill in the air. We walked about 14 miles in roughly 7 hours which, of course, included a very nice pub lunch (lol) !
Thank you for stopping by, have a good start to the new week, Petra.

Lunagirl - Secrets and Hidden Things

The new challenge at Lunagirl Moonbeams is all about secret and hidden things. With Christmas not so very far off (where is the time gone?) I made two little treasure boxes
I simply covered the boxes in patterend paper (Craftworks Cards),

covered the sides of the lid with ribbon and lace

and decorated the top with adorable Christmas girls from Lunagirl Moonbeams,
bows, half-pearls, charm and paper flowers.
For more fabulous secret and hidden art treasures and to join the challenge, please do visit Karen's blog Lunagirl Moonbeams! Petra.
