De-Stash: Patterend Paper

A brilliant idea from Ali .... I have to clear out my craftroom as we get guests very soon and need my craftroom as a bedroom and we will start to decorate the house very soon (sigh). When going through all the wonderful papers I have collected and which are more than 3 months old, I couldn't really decide what to choose ... there are too many! In the end I settled for some paper blocks which I acquired but never used because I was not sure what to do with them apart from looking at them and admiring the colours, designs and the paper itself (lol).
I decided to make some cards and once I had started I couldn't stop anymore ... my design recipe was simple: A6 cards, Union Jack (because of all the celebrations taking place here in Britain), simple and quick. I made three different sets of cards and if you would like to see them all, please take a look here
For Ali's de-stash challenge I chose my two favourite cards from the sets: The base are white A6 cards which are layered with Tilda papers. The bits and pieces for the Union Jack were cut by hand using a stencil as template. With only the flag the cards looked a bit plain so I added some little decorations: a Sizzix die-cut butterfly with some little blings
and a little layered heart ornament in various Tilda papers
If you have not de-stashed yet there is still time to take part in the challenge which will end on 31.03. Happy De-stashing, Petra.

Copper, Ginger and Rust

The very last Gingersnap Creations challenge: Copper, Ginger or Rust ... it is hard to believe and a very sad moment. Gingersnap Creations felt so much of a creative home for such a long time ... it was my very first Design Team position and I so much enjoyed it ... thank you so much to everyone for all the fun and inspirations .... Luckily it is not only an end but also a new beginning ... Gingersnap Creations will transform into Shar's Unruly PaperArts', and there is also Ali's new venture 'Vintage Page Designs' - phew - so we can still play together (lol).
For the last challenge I created a tag with all of the colours ... I very lightly 'pre-inked' the tag with Adirondack Ginger ink before inking the background with Adirondack Rust ink and the mask from Tattered Angels. I stamped onto the tag with Archival ink (stampes: La Blanche and Heindesign) and cut some stamped flowers (stamp: Craft Stamper Magazine). The centre of the flowers and the edge of the tag have been treated with some Copper Stickles.
Hope you can all join us for this last Gingersnap challenge, Petra.

Chunky Easter ATC Box

For the current Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge 'anything goes' .... Recently I saw some fabulous chunky ATCs and I knew that I wanted to make some. With Easter just around the corner I needed some little boxes for some Easter treats - why not combine chunky ATC and Easter treats? This is the template I created for the Chunky ATC Box, please feel free to use it

As base for the box I used Kraft Card which I covered with EchoPark papers,
decorated it with a bunny image from the Graphics Fairy, fabric flowers, some pearls, stamped images and sentiment from Waltzing Mouse and a little wooden Lady Bird ......
..... and filled it with some lovely chocolatey Lady Birds! Petra.

A Tag with a Punched Edge

... created for the Gingersnap Creations Spicy Supply challenge: Border Punches. I now and again use border punches, not very often as I only have three of them and I used two for creating this little tag: a Martha Stewart and a Stampin'Up border punch. I love both of them dearly as they are so versatile.
The patterned paper and little fairy image is from graphics45, the musical note and fibre paper are little leftovers from Gerri's fantastic surprise bag. I adorned the tag with some paper and fabric flowers, blings, Stickles and some ribbons. Hop over to the Gingersnap blog, you will find tons of inspiration and amazing projects from the DT! Enjoy Spring and the wonderful sunshine (it is up to 20 degrees C in London today!) Petra.

Playing with Gerri

Gerri had this fabulous idea of inviting people to play with her - and this is how it went: I sent Gerri my address and she sent me a 'goodie bag' containing the most interesting and inspiring bits and pieces. The challenge was to create one project using 4 to 5 bits from Gerri's goodie bag and we are allowed to use whatever else we think would be useful. When I saw all the different elements, I had immediately two/three projects in my head. So far I've had only time to create two but the third one will come - promise! (lol)
My first project was the decoration of a book
I loved the way it all came together so quickly. The elements which came from Gerri are the wonderfully old musical note paper, the white fibre, ribbon, the ever so sweet image, the image corner, paper trellis and lots of little metal flowers. My contribution to it was stamping on the musical note paper (Kaisercraft stamp with VersaMagic ink), paper circles underneath the flowers and for the stamped sentiment (stamp: Lily of the Valley), bow and leafy ribbon and all the little bling and the book!
The second project turned out rather different

... an asian themed card using textured papertowel, embossed light card, paper rings and a leaf from Gerri. I created the card using a square textured white card and adding some bling, asian coin, butterfly and an image from The Sum of All Crafts.
Gerri collects all the creations and will display them on her blog later this month. This is so exciting and I cannot wait to see what everybody has created ! Thank you Gerri for the challenge, this was such a brilliant idea! Petra.

Spring and Twinchies

Yesterday the postman came with a lovely surprise - the twinchie from the Gingersnap exchange, they are absolutely amazing! Thank you so much to Netty, Alexa, Laura, Valerie, Suze and Kerry

Together with the Twinchies came beautiful Spring weather, Spring is definitely upon us. It is so warm in the sunshine that we had afternoon tea outside in the garden! The flowers are so bright and cheerful in their yellows, reds and blues - the first tulips and bluebells, lovely daffodils, delicate rosemary flowers, pretty little primulas and the last winter iris .... enjoy the sunshine and Spring warmth, Petra.

Granny's Photoalbum

What a challenge and treat! The Gingersnap Creations challenge for the Chestnut Theme Challenge is: Granny's Photoalbum which gave me another opportunity to create a little book (stab binding style) - a photoalbum. I enjoyed this one SOOOOO much
The front and back cover is corrugated card covered with BoBunny patterend paper. I decorated the cover page with stamps (Lily of the Valley), vintage button, lace and charm. The inside page are made from black card separated with traditional photoalbum paper which I rescued from a broken album ...
The album tells the story of Grandparents, Sisters and Granchildren, hope you enjoy looking at the old photos ....
All images are from art-e-zine/Vintage Resources - Adopt an Ancestor. All words are printed and various embellishments (Victorian scraps, flower charm, old book page cutout, lace) added.
I hope you can join us at Gingersnap and show us your Granny's photoalbum, Petra.

Origami Book Tag

A little tag of a different kind - an origami book tag ... for Tag Tuesday
It started with a 6"x6" 7Gypsies paper folded in a little book. It is always such good fun to make those ones, they look so cute and are so easy to create! I stamped one word on each of the pages (stamps: Lily of the Valley). The closure is a little velcro dot, small satin ribbon and a cute book owl (stamp: sorry, don't know the manufacturer). To turn it into a tag I added satin ribbon along the inside of the book spine. The size of the whole book is 3x2.5cm. Petra.
